Dr. Subodh Varshney, a pioneering Gastrointestinal and Hepato-Pancreato-Biliary surgeon, is the Medical Director of Siddhanta Red Cross Super Speciality Hospital, Bhopal. A Gold Medalist from Gandhi Medical College, Bhopal, with 13 medals and the prestigious Kak Medal, he pursued advanced training in GI and laparoscopic surgery in France and the UK, earning the FRCS (Edinburgh) and AFSA (France). He is a Fellow of FACS, FACG, FAMS, FRSM (UK), and several prestigious medical societies globally.
A trailblazer in Central India, Dr. Varshney established the first GI Surgery department and performed the region’s first liver transplant. He pioneered advanced procedures like radiofrequency tumor ablation, endoscopic ultrasound, and GI physiology labs. As an academician, he mentored DNB, PhD candidates, and served as examiner for the Royal College of Surgeons (Edinburgh).
He is the former Head of GI Surgery at BMHRC and LN Medical College, and has been instrumental in shaping medical education, research, and specialty training across MP. His leadership extended internationally, consulting for KUBA Medical University, South Sudan.
Dr. Varshney has over 150 publications, delivered multiple orations, and has been recognized by Forbes, Fortune, Zee News, and Economic Times. As a gas tragedy survivor, he continues to serve victims selflessly. A social worker, entrepreneur, and Rotarian, he has also founded hospitals, a pharma company, and an academic NGO.
He is the recipient of several national honors including Rashtriya Rattan, Zee Icon of MP, and Six Sigma Healthcare Excellence Awards.
